Ladies and gentlemen, a drumroll please! With Kitsch Royale, Kitsch Kitchen presents a new collection that takes you to a fictional circus from days gone by. Full of charm, humour and nostalgia, from vases and candle holders to notebooks and games.
In this blog we introduce the main characters and share tips for styling the collection at home. Looking for a gift with character? You’ve come to the right place too.
A collection with a story
Kitsch Royale was designed by Eef Ouwehand. She drew inspiration from vintage circus posters and travelling performers. The result: vibrant colours, charismatic characters and playful kitsch details.
Each item tells its own story, with a retro wink. Exactly what Kitsch Kitchen has stood for for more than 30 years: colour, humour and individuality.
Meet the main characters
Kitsch Royale has a regular cast of circus characters that appear throughout the collection. That makes the items easy to combine.
- Monsieur Gaston appears on two candle holders: the candle holder 12 x 9 cm and the pillar candle holder 12.5 x 9 cm. The Monsieur Gaston memory game also bears his name.
- Fifi graces the Fifi vase in blue/yellow.
- Loretta shines on the Loretta vase in pink/red.
- The circus tent comes as a cushion and as a 9 x 11 cm candle holder or mini vase in yellow/blue and pink/red.
Madame Lola also takes the stage, for example on a cushion, the Madame Lola vase in blue and the Madame Lola affirmation cards.
What’s in the collection?
Kitsch Royale spans three product groups, so there’s something for every room.

How to style Kitsch Royale at home
- Go all-in or choose one accent. Build your own circus world with several pieces, or give a calm interior a cheerful wink with a single vase or candle holder.
- Create a little group. Place a vase, a candle holder and a photo frame together on a sideboard or windowsill. A few books underneath add height.
- Play with candles. Combine the candle holders with coloured candles for even more colour.
- Surprise in unexpected places. A cushion on the sofa, a bath mat in the bathroom or a mini vase with a single flower on your desk.
Tip: group items featuring the same character, such as the Monsieur Gaston candle holders next to the memory game. That way you keep discovering new combinations.
Kitsch Royale as a gift
Looking for a gift with character? Affirmation cards, a memory game or a notebook make lovely small gifts, for a birthday or as a little extra. A vase, cushion or photo frame is a beautiful larger gift for anyone who loves colour.
